1. Growth Rule

Golden and Rainbow are Growth mutations — a crop can only have ONE at a time. Rainbow (×50) always beats Golden (×20).

➕

2. Stacking Rule

All non-Growth mutations multiply together. Wet (×2) + Frozen (×10) + Moonlit (×2) = ×40 total. More mutations = huge value!

🎯

3. Best Combo Strategy

Always aim for Rainbow + the rarest weather/event mutation (Voidtouched ×135 or Disco ×125). That’s how top traders price their crops.

Grow a Garden Mutation List: All 26 Multipliers Ranked and Explained

Grow a Garden Mutation List: every mutation, its multiplier, and a simple guide to how they stack. A plain crop sells for very little. The real money starts when a mutation lands on your plant, and this page shows what each one is worth.

The table below covers 26 mutations, ranked from the highest multiplier to the lowest. Find your mutation, check the number, then use the Mutation Calculator to get the final value of your crop.

The List at a Glance

DetailNumber

Highest multiplier×135 (Voidtouched)
Lowest multiplier×2 (five mutations share it)
Gap between highest and lowest67.5 times

That gap is the whole story. A Voidtouched crop sells for 67.5 times more than a Wet crop of the same size.

Mutation Tiers Explained

Top tier (×85 and above): 5 mutations.
Voidtouched, Disco, Celestial, Shocked and Static. One of these on a crop changes its price completely. They are also the hardest to land, so most players see them only now and then.

High tier (×20 to ×50): 3 mutations.
Rainbow, Molten and Golden. Each one is strong on its own, and Golden is the one players usually plan around.

Mid tier (×5 to ×15): 9 mutations.
Corrupt, Acidic, Tempestuous, Amber, Frozen, Cloudtouched, HoneyGlazed, Sunburnt and Twisted. Solid results without needing a perfect event.

Low tier (×2 to ×4): 9 mutations.
Bloodlit, Zombified, Pollinated, Sandy, Chilled, Chocolate, Moonlit, Wet and Windstruck. They look small, but they add up when several land together.

What Is a Mutation?

A mutation is a change that happens to a crop while it grows. It raises the price you get when you sell. Many mutations also change how the crop looks, so you can often spot them before you open the tooltip.

Mutations can come from weather, events, pets and gear. The same mutation can sometimes come from more than one source. To find out how to trigger a specific one, check the in-game details, because triggers change more often than multipliers.

In real use, many players spend all their time chasing rare seeds and forget about mutations. A common crop with a strong mutation can sell for far more than a rare crop with none.

How Much Is a Mutation Worth?

These values use the base prices from our calculator. Each number is base value × multiplier.

Crop (base value)Wet ×2Golden ×20Shocked ×100Voidtouched ×135
Carrot (18)363601,8002,430
Tomato (30)606003,0004,050
Watermelon (3,080)6,16061,600308,000415,800
Sunflower (50,000)100,0001,000,0005,000,0006,750,000
Prismatic Bloom (250,000)500,0005,000,00025,000,00033,750,000

Two things stand out:

  1. The crop matters as much as the mutation. A Golden Carrot (360) is worth less than a plain Watermelon (3,080).
  2. Big mutations on cheap crops are a waste. A Voidtouched Carrot (2,430) sells for less than a plain Dragon Fruit (4,250). Put your best mutations on your best crops.

How Mutation Stacking Works

A crop can carry more than one mutation. Many players use this formula to work out the final multiplier:

Final multiplier = Variant × [1 + sum of (each other mutation − 1)]

The “−1” is there because each mutation already includes a base of ×1. You add only the bonus each one brings, not the base again.

Under this formula, Rainbow and Golden count as variants, and only one variant applies per crop. Most other mutations are added together. If a crop has no variant, skip that part and just use the bracket.

Newer mutations, like Voidtouched and Disco, may not follow this exactly. Test them in the calculator and trust what the game shows.

Example 1: A Simple Stack

Golden (×20) with Wet (×2) and Pollinated (×3).

  • Wet bonus: 2 − 1 = 1
  • Pollinated bonus: 3 − 1 = 2
  • Final multiplier: 20 × [1 + 1 + 2] = 20 × 4 = ×80
CropBaseFinal value
Tomato302,400
Sunflower50,0004,000,000

Example 2: A Strong Stack

Golden (×20) with Shocked (×100) and Celestial (×120).

20 × [1 + 99 + 119] = 20 × 219 = ×4,380

A Sunflower with this stack: 50,000 × 4,380 = 219,000,000.

Example 3: The Dream Stack

Rainbow (×50) with Celestial (×120) and Shocked (×100).

50 × [1 + 119 + 99] = 50 × 219 = ×10,950

A Sunflower with this stack: 50,000 × 10,950 = 547,500,000.

This is what players chase during big weather events. It is rare, so don’t plan your whole day around it.

Example 4: Low-Tier Mutations Add Up

Wet (×2), Moonlit (×2), Pollinated (×3) and Sandy (×3), with no variant.

1 + 1 + 1 + 2 + 2 = ×7

Four small mutations together match one Cloudtouched (×7). So don’t ignore the low tier. A crop with four small mutations is worth more than a crop with one.

Why Stacking Beats a Single Big Mutation

Look at the Sunflower results above:

  • Golden alone: 1,000,000
  • Golden + Wet + Pollinated: 4,000,000

Two small mutations made the crop worth four times more. In real use, this is why steady players earn more than players who wait for one perfect mutation. What usually happens is that the “perfect” one never shows up, while small ones land every session.

How Crop Weight Changes the Price

The mutation multiplier applies to your crop’s value, and a heavier crop starts with a higher value. So the same mutation gives a bigger price on a heavier crop.

Because of this, always enter the real weight in the calculator. Two crops with identical mutations can sell for very different prices.

How to Check Your Crop Value

  1. Open the calculator. Go to the Mutation Calculator.
  2. Pick your crop. The base value fills in for you.
  3. Enter the weight. Use the real number from your crop.
  4. Select the mutations. Choose only the ones shown on your crop in the game.
  5. Add a friend boost if you have one. The tool supports +5% to +20%.
  6. Read the result. The estimated value updates as you go.
  7. Copy the result. Use the copy button to save it before a trade.

Which Mutations Should You Aim For?

If you play a few hours a week: Focus on the low and mid tiers. Wet, Moonlit, Pollinated, Frozen and Amber show up often enough to build steady value.

If you play every day: Add Golden as your main target. It is strong and realistic.

If you farm during big events: Keep your best crops ready for Celestial, Shocked and Rainbow chances. Don’t sell the moment an event starts. Wait a few minutes to see if another mutation lands.

Tips From Real Use

  • Check before you sell. A missed mutation on a valuable crop costs a lot.
  • Match mutations to crops. Keep your top mutations for your most valuable crops.
  • Don’t rush during events. A second mutation can double your result.
  • Enter real numbers. A guessed weight gives a guessed price.
  • Recheck after updates. Multipliers and triggers can change with a patch.
  • Save results before trading. Copy the number so you can compare it with what a buyer offers.

Common Mistakes

  • Adding multipliers directly. Wet ×2 plus Pollinated ×3 is not ×5. Use the formula above.
  • Stacking two variants. Golden and Rainbow don’t stack. Only one applies.
  • Ignoring weight. The same mutation gives different prices at different weights.
  • Selecting mutations the crop doesn’t have. Match what the tooltip shows.
  • Wasting top mutations on cheap crops. Check the value table above first.
  • Using old numbers. After a patch, check the values again.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q1. What is the highest mutation in Grow a Garden?

On this list, Voidtouched is the highest at ×135. Disco (×125) and Celestial (×120) come next.

Q2. How many mutations are on this list?

26, ranked by multiplier.

Q3. What is the lowest mutation multiplier?

×2. Chilled, Chocolate, Moonlit, Wet and Windstruck all share it.

Q4. Do mutations stack?

Yes, a crop can carry several. Use the formula above, or the calculator, to get the final multiplier.

Q5. Can Golden and Rainbow appear on the same crop?

No. Only one variant applies per crop, and the game keeps the higher one.

Q6. Does crop weight change the final value?

Yes. The mutation multiplies the crop’s value, and a heavier crop starts higher.

Q7. Which mutations are easiest to get?

The low-tier ones, like Wet, Chilled, Moonlit and Pollinated, are the most common in general play.

Q8. Are four small mutations worth more than one big one?

Sometimes. Four mutations of ×2, ×2, ×3 and ×3 give ×7, which matches Cloudtouched. Whether it beats a single big one depends on the numbers, so run both in the calculator.

Q9. Should I put my best mutation on my cheapest crop?

No. A Voidtouched Carrot (2,430) sells for less than a plain Dragon Fruit (4,250). Match strong mutations to valuable crops.

Q10. Do multipliers change after updates?

They can. Always check the in-game tooltip after a patch.

Q11. How do I find my crop’s final value?

Use the Mutation Calculator. Pick the crop, enter the weight, choose the mutations, and read the result.

Quick Glossary

  • Mutation: A change on a crop that raises its sell price.
  • Multiplier: The number your crop’s value is multiplied by, like ×20.
  • Variant: A base-layer mutation, like Golden or Rainbow. Only one applies per crop.
  • Stacking: Several mutations on one crop, combined into one final multiplier.
  • Base value: The crop’s price before any mutation.
  • Sheckles: The in-game currency.

Final Word

Mutations decide how much a crop is really worth. Know the multipliers, put your best ones on your best crops, and check the full stack before you sell. It takes a few seconds in the calculator, and it can save you a lot of Sheckles.
